Passeig de Gracia

Barcelona’s most elegant, fashionable and international shopping street is called “Passeig de Gracia” in Catalan and “Paseo de Gracia” in Spanish.

Passeig de Gracia is perhaps the nicest street in Barcelona to shop on where you will find most of the flagship stores of the top Spanish highstreets brands  and International exclusive luxury brands.

You could spend a whole day here between shopping,  taking in the lovely modernist architecture. The pavements are paved with lovely hexagonal stones with Gaudi marine motifs from Casa Mila and the street is lined with modernist lampposts by Pere Falqués and charming modernist stones benches.

Gotico, El Born y Gracia Areas

For local artists boutique and artisan shops, head to the old part of Barcelona where you can find many interesting shops as you stroll the streets.

In the trendy Ribera/Born you will find an array of small boutiques from local artists selling their own creations of clothes, jewelry, hats and local gastronomical products.  This area is a delight to wonder around and also has a great market you should stop to visit called Mercado de Santa Caterina.

The area called Gracia is less visited by tourists but very loved by locals as it maintains a village feel to it and is home to many local artisans shops. If you have time you should make a visit and stroll along Calle Verdi and the streets around it.

Avinguda Diagonal

Av Diagonal stretches from the north east tip of Barcelona by the Diagonal Mar area and goes all the way up to the fashionable south-west residential area called the Zona Alta (the high zone). However, the best shopping on Av Diagonal begins where the avenue crosses Passeig de Gracia and continues up to the Pedrables mall at the top of Diagonal.

This street has many luxury brands such as Calvin Klein, Giorgio Armani and Gucci as well as many high street brands, popular furniture brands like Habitat, Zara Home, BoConcept and more.

Rambla de Catalunya & las Ramblas

Rambla de Catalunya is one of Barcelona’s most charming streets for strolling and housing an array of small fashion boutiques, accessory shops, gift shops and cafes.  The café lined pedestrian area in the middle makes Rambla de Catalunya a popular street to combine some shopping and a meal. It runs parallel with Passeig de Gracia and the streets connecting the two also have many shops and art galleries.

Las Ramblas is a great street for strolling, but not the best for shopping. The one thing we recommend you check out on this street is the Boqueria Market where you can buy some typical gastronomical delights to take back home.  At the end of the Ramblas you can also see some of the local street artists.
